MEANING OF CAPITAL MARKET:

  1. Capital market refers to the market that ideal in development finance through the instrument of shares, debentures and long-term loans.        
  2. In a modern economy, money plays a pivotal role, capital market refer to money capital which helps us finally have physical capital.
  3. The capital market refers to the markets where long-term finance can be raised for investment by the corporate sector.
  4. The main participants in capital market are banks, financial institutions, financial intermediaries etc.
  5. SEBI is the supreme regulator of the Indian capital market.
  6. Capital market consists of three distinct segments are
             a.Government Securities Market.
             b.Corporate Debt Market
             c.Equity market.

Definition of Capital Market:

According to Francis Cheruilam, “Capital market is used to refer to the market for long term loanable funds as distinct from the money market which deals in short term funds.”
